"I'm worried about whether or not I'll be able to get loans next year," said early education major Kenithea Hodges.

The cost of tuition at Winthrop has steadily increased over the past 10 years at around 10 percent every year, according to Winthrop's Institutional Research.

McCain-Palin enthusiasm hit a feverish pitch last night when 8,000 students, faculty, staff and members of Greenville and the surrounding areas gathered to watch the Republican vice-presidential nominee speak in Minges Coliseum on Tuesday night.

The rally, a part of the McCain campaign's "Road to Victory" campaign, featured a myriad of Republican politicians from around the state, including Senator Elizabeth Dole, state representative Louis Pate, Senator Jean Preston, mayor of Charlotte Pat McCrory and Senator Richard Burr.

Union Board raises the 'bar'

A new on-campus bar will be opened on Saturday nights in the 900 Room of the Alvarez Student Union starting October 18. The hours are tentatively set from 10 p.m. to 1 or 2 a.m.

Two students were shot during an attempted robbery of four students on the 300 block of Goshen Street Friday. The injured students were taken to VCU Medical Center, one with minor injuries and one in critical condition.
