As students are continually discouraged to smoke, some turn to alternate ways to enjoy their nicotine. Camel and Marlboro have taken a Swedish favorite and turned to American markets to sell the smokeless tobacco product known simply as Snus.
With the average package of Snus costing considerably less than cigarettes and increased smoking bans around the state and campus, students are turning to this alternative.

It happens every year. As freshmen, we are told daily during UNCWelcome Week that Beach Blast will be the most exciting event of our UNCW careers. Free transportation, free food, free T-shirts, and the beach; who would possibly turn down such an opportunity? With the combination of being new to college, living in a beach town and being surrounded by new friends, Beach Blast was definitely an exciting day for me as a freshman.

After five years in the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce as Group Vice President for Communication Development and Public Affairs, Vickers was first introduced to the FSU family as the facilitator and spearhead of the University initiatives at Seymour Johnson Air force Base.
Vickers grew up in Dayton, Ohio in a farm community. After receiving a National Merit Scholarship, he attended Ohio State/Wright State University and obtained his undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics, his first love. Vickers wanted to make better products, but after learning that decisions were not made by engineers, he attained a Masters of Business Administration in Management from Wright State University.

Charlotte-based band, Bubonik Funk is playing at the Duck and Dive Bar and Pub on Friday, Sept. 3 at 9 p.m.
"We have a fan base in Wilmington and a lot of friends at UNCW who we want to reach," said guitarist Stefan Kallander, who also does vocals. "We are excited to finally be getting down to Wilmington to play for them.

All those who have studied abroad have gone through a process of assimilation, getting to know the community and way of life, but what do foreigners think when they come to the United States and get to live and go to school at UNCW? This fall there are 218 international students on campus, the largest amount ever.
